Wheelchair Rugby Leagueis one of the most inclusive and exciting formats of the game — allowing people of all abilities, with or without disability, to play together on an equal playing field. The sport is played indoors on a hard court, with teams of five using specially designed sports wheelchairs. It follows many of the same rules as the running game, with a few key adaptations: the ball is kicked using the hands, tackles are made by removing a tag from the opponent’s shoulder, and players score tries by grounding the ball over the line.Fast-paced, physical, and highly strategic, Wheelchair Rugby League showcases the skill, speed, and toughness that fans love about rugby league. At the same time, it provides a unique pathway for athletes of all abilities to compete at community, national, and international levels — including representing Australia as part of the Wheelaroos.
