Follow Marriott Syracuse DowntownThe setting was wonderful and it had a really high-end feel, but the staff did not act like I would expect in a high-end establishment: Everything seemed hurried and a little inconsistent. The tongs for the buffet were difficult to use and it didn't seem as sanitary as I would prefer. The piano player when we can in was a nice touch. We had a lovely time, but there was room for improvement.
Review for : Easter Brunch - Marriott Syracuse Downtown
This was Easter with my 17 year old daughter. We had a nice time, the venue was beautiful, food choices were exquisite. All was good, until the server brought our drink check. We had 2 cokes, $6.80. I had already tipped the man $4.00 cash. (all the cash I was carrying at the time, I use Apple pay or my card.) He took my card, walked away, and swiveled back, looking stern. He said, "Don't you even have $5.00? You DO know this establishment has to PAY for you to use your credit card.!" I was shocked, and embarrassed. We were among other diners, and he said this quite loud. I told him I seldom carry cash, and that was all I had. I usually use Apple pay when it is permitted. He was frustrated and seemed angry. This man Ruined our day. My daughter didn't know what to say, and she was embarrassed as well. I should contact Syracuse Marriot and demand a refund. I LOVE the Syracuse Marriot, and brunches there are a long family tradition. I don't think the tradition will carry on.
