Caroline Weingart embarked on her journey in April 2021, driven by a profound personal connection. Her daughter, Lizzie, confronts the daily challenges of severe peanut and tree-nut allergies, a struggle shared by millions worldwide. Motivated by this familial bond and fueled by years of baking experience, Caroline transformed her passion into a purposeful career, starting Lizzie's Bakery Nut Free—a heartfelt tribute to both her daughter and her late mother, Liz Emrick, who remains a source of inspiration.Seeking to refine her craft, Caroline undertook courses in baking, pastry arts, purchasing, and customer service at Cuyahoga Community College. What began as a cottage food business in spring 2021, baking from scratch in a home kitchen, soon blossomed into a larger venture. Encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive reception from customers, the Lizzie's Bakery team took the leap, securing a lease for a commercial kitchen in Shaker Heights after three years as a cottage food business.Lizzie’s Bakery stands as the sole peanut and tree-nut free bakery in the region. The dedicated team has crafted a warm and inviting space where customers can enjoy delicious treats alongside locally sourced beverages.The bakery's journey has been supported by Caroline's husband, Lee, and their three children—Lizzie, Ned, and Ethan. From early morning farmers markets to the meticulous task of taste-testing new recipes, each member of the family has played a pivotal role.Continuing our mission to spread joy through safe, delicious treats, Lizzie’s Bakery proudly showcases our offerings at local venues such as North Union Farmer's Markets, the Corner (Van Aken District Market Hall), and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Trail Mix Stores and Visitor Centers.At Lizzie’s Bakery Nut Free, every item is baked with love and a commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can enjoy delicious baked goods.
