Hamilton Secondary College-Space School

Hamilton Secondary College-Space School

Hamilton Secondary College is the only school in South Australia with designated facilities and specialist curriculum to lead space education. In September 2017, the Mike Roach Space Education Centre was officially opened with our four main areas supporting our space science program - a simulated Martian crater and landscape with seven different geological zones, a Mission Control Room, a Briefing Room , and a space laboratory. Hamilton Space School would like to acknowledge the support, generosity and collaboration of VSSEC (Victorian Space Science Education Centre) with our 'Mission to Mars' Program. The second South Australian permanent Planetarium, the first in Adelaide's southern suburbs will be completed in late 2021. Developed as part of Hamilton Secondary college's $9.2 million facilities upgrade, the star gazing structure within the new Performing Arts Centre complements the school's progressive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) focus, Space Academy and Space Education Centre, providing students with an exciting and unique educational experience. From 2022, a dedicated Space, STEM and Innovation team will continue to develop and implement programs enabling Hamilton Secondary College - Space School to be recognised globally as a Space Education nexus. The Space program is supported by a growing number of industry partners who share our vision and goal to be a leader in space education.
