This was our first time attending the Pickle Festival, and we had a great time overall! The atmosphere was fun, and we really appreciated that most of the event was held indoors—especially with the summer heat. A couple of things could be improved for next year. The indoor dining area trash cans were filling up quickly and weren’t emptied often enough. At one point, we had to walk all the way to the restrooms just to throw trash away. Eventually, a trash can was placed in the middle of the dining area, which helped a lot. The restrooms were clean and not crowded, which was a big plus. We stayed for about three hours and could’ve stayed longer, but we didn’t find many kid-friendly activities to keep my special needs nephew entertained. There was a mechanical bull and a bounce house, but we were hoping to find toys or more interactive kid booths and couldn’t locate any. We had to “register” for the event but once we arrived there was no more parking. The site where the event took place was far from us and to drive all the way out there to find no parking and have to turn back with my kids was sad and disappointing. Other places cap a limit on the people able to go to an event and even though it would be nice to have everyone participate is just not realistic and fair to the people that do sign up for the event.
