Established in 1988 by acclaimed choreographer Jacky YU Yan-wah, E-Side Dance Company is one of the most representative contemporary dance organizations in Hong Kong. The company aims at generating original dance theatre productions and providing platforms for dance creation. It emphasizes the importance of nurturing the aesthetics of the younger generations and cultural exchange among Asian dance artists. Since 2008, the company has become a venue partner of the Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre. It presents internationally superb dance productions every year to help develop a brand new arts and cultural hub in Kowloon East. Besides, various kinds of dance courses along with finale performances are organized to encourage all walks of life to enjoy the delights of dance. To further promote performing arts in communities, it organizes educational outreach programmes to reach a wider audience and get more people involved in dance. The company has achieved the Hong Kong Dance Awards - Outstanding Service to Dance in 2012 and has been financially supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council since 2016.
