The Flags: Rededication Ceremony

We’ll gather under the new flags, on the patio in front of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church. All are Welcome… especially all our Fort Greene neighbors!
Some history: In 2021, when an installation in front of the church of yellow ribbons in support of Black Lives Matter and a Pride banner were vandalized, we were overwhelmed with love and support from our Fort Greene neighbors. Bolstered by that support, the church was able to respond with an even bigger display of flags.
Now four years later, those flags—a bit faded and torn by the wind—have been replaced with new ones!
The message of this place’s commitment to love and justice continues to fly over Lafayette Avenue for all to see. As the sign at the corner of the church says: “We celebrate an inclusive world, where all are welcome and valued.”
