First Arriving Officer

The Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Hazardous Materials Management Team presents “first arrival officer” training. Training will include an overview of the UPRR system, pre-planning, railroad equipment, scene size up, process of information the railroad will provide during the incident, how to get in contact with your local UPRR-HMM, reading and understanding train consist, and plan of action for non-railroad related incidents that involve stopping train traffic.

It's intended for anyone that might have contact with the railroad during a rail emergency, whether it's a derailment, grade crossing collision or some other event where responders and railroad personnel could interface. Law enforcement, EMS, Emergency Management and even dispatchers are potential participants that could attend the "first arriving officer.....anyone that's part of the response to the railroad emergency.
