Journey into one of Earth’s richest botanical frontiers in this captivating talk with Dylan Zoller, bromeliad expert and explorer.

Dylan will be presenting on the immense diversity of plant life of the cloud forests and plateaus of the southeastern Brazilian highlands. This large region hosts a fantastic tapestry of ecosystems which Dylan has spent over five months exploring, co-discovering at least a dozen new species and alerting local researchers to their existence. This presentation will outline some of the striking landscapes and star species encountered during these multi-month expeditions.

About the Speaker:
Dylan works to maintain the succulent and bromeliad gardens and their associated off display collections at Sherman Library and Gardens in Newport Beach. The collections maintained at the garden focus primarily on xeric species for outdoor display and on cloud forest species in covered or sheltered spaces. Dylan has made multiple excursions to Latin America, including, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Guatemala, as well as multiple long-term trips to Brazil in search of localized and obscure bromeliads and cacti.
