The calasita as a portal into volcada and colgada - intensive Argentine tango workshop in Colchester

The shared axis is a defining quality which sets Argentine tango apart from any other dance and which injects that addictive magic that we grow to crave as we become familiar with it. Tango dancers share their axis both towards, in volcada, and away, in calasita, from each other and in this workshop Miriam Gita will show you how to use the calasita as a comprehensive portal into either mode. The calasita is in itself a beautiful turn deserving of greater technical understanding with which Miriam will open up your potential for more creative and undogmatic use of this elegant giro. The technical skills vital to achieving this will be taught in great detail and you will be given options to make it attainable and satisfying whether you want an ambitious challenge or a simple introduction to the concept.

This two-hour workshop is suitable for all with useful simplifications given to beginners as well as advanced challenges on offer for more experienced tangueros. No partner necessary.
