David G invites you to a very special charity music performance.

Special because all proceeds from the show will go directly to MiC, a registered not-for-profit that gives children from Masi and Oceanview direct access to the magical and transformative gift of music. So let’s pack this one out.

And special because David G will be joined by a host of respected and well known musical talent to bring you a mixed and varied programme on the night.

No stranger to the café Roux stage and well known in the Deep South for giving back and paying forward, David promises a show to remember.

His potent lyrics and arrangements paint a picture of his life experiences, overcoming the odds through discovery, and hope. David is passionate about inspiring people to find hope and healing.

Songs like “Language of Kindness” and “Love is my Rebellion”, launched at café Roux, reflect perfectly MiC’s own mission through music.

During the evening David will be joined by the CEO of MiC, Kathleen Eggers on strings, spoken word artist Lujaman Masele from Masi, guitar maestro and producer Willem Moller, on bass from Canada, Robin Denault and local percussionist Derek Craig. PLUS contributions from the MiC children’s choir AND some further potential big surprises.

About Music in Community

Music in Community (MiC) NPC 2024/558942/08 was founded on the simple belief and truth, that the power of music can uplift, transform and strengthen communities.

We are a grassroots music and choir community group founded by violinist and CEO Kathleen Eggers. MiC meets at Generation Schools Imhoff Campus every Saturday, and rehearses in Ocean View on weekdays. Sharing the transformative power of music with children from our immediate neighborhoods of Masiphumelele and Oceanview, giving them access to the arts.

As part of the programme, we also try to get our group of children to regular concerts and events in Cape Town, also totally self-funded or through generous ticket concessions from organisers
Currently MiC is funded solely by the founders, with instrument donations from the public. Through the café Roux fundraiser and our other ongoing appeals we hope to secure regular funding and food donations to keep our project ongoing.
