Clay Birdhouses: Build a Home for Feathered Friends! with Kim Sammartano

Ages: 7 – 12 | July 25, 2025 | 9am – 12pm | Dennis Ott Ceramics Studio
Skill Level: All Are Welcome
In this hands-on clay class, kids will design and build their very own birdhouse. From rustic woodland cottages to whimsical fairy-tale birdhouses, every child’s creation will be uniquely theirs. This class encourages creativity, planning, skill building, and a love of nature.
What Students Will Learn & Create:
Foundational Techniques: Young clay artists will learn basic techniques like rolling slabs, attaching pieces securely, and using natural materials and stamps to create fun patterns on the surface.
Design & Glazing: They’ll create a blueprint on paper for the design of their unique birdhouse, & plan the construction before building the structure with clay. They’ll get to personalize their birdhouses with underglaze colors of their choice.
Class Highlights:
Inspired Design: Students are encouraged to lean into their imagination, have fun and bring their individual ideas to life.
Structured Learning: Students receive guidance on how clay behaves and how to build sturdy structures.
Materials Included:
Tuition covers all clay, glazes and firings. Due to the nature of the medium, some projects will be fired after class ends and will need to be picked up at a later date. Shipping options are available upon request.
