Join us for a great family day out to kick off the summer holidays with a fun packed weekend of all things Roman at Hull Museums.
See the Roman army preparing for battle and join in their drills. Meet citizens and Centurions and get creative with crafts and pottery inspired by our amazing artefacts.
Explore the myths of Hercules and the legendary battles between Queen Boudica and the Roman army, through interactive storytelling sessions.
The weekend will include:
• Roman military demonstrations by the Comitatus re-enactment group, demonstrating not only the use of spears, swords and axes, but also missile weapons such as the ballista, bow, javelin, darts and throwing axe.
• Armour and Gladiatorial equipment displays by the Autonomous Re-enactor Collective
• Roman pottery demonstrations
• Family storytelling
• Make your own Samian Ware bowl
• Roman soldier helmet and mosaic crafts
• Have a go archery*
• Food and drink
• And lots more!
