🌱 Dry Media VII: Germinate – Artists at the WIN Herbarium
This inspiring exhibition celebrates the University of Manitoba’s WIN Vascular Plant Herbarium – home to over 100,000 preserved plant, lichen and moss specimens – as a wellspring of artistic creativity.
In early 2025, 18 artists took part in a unique workshop within the herbarium, led by curator Diana Sawatzky and greenhouse curator Dr Carla Zelmer. With access to scientific tools and archival plant materials, each artist allowed new ideas to germinate, drawing connections between nature and art.
Come and explore the resulting works – intricate, thoughtful pieces that highlight the quiet beauty of Manitoba’s plant life and the power of creative observation.
🌿 Feel free to chat below if you're interested in visiting the exhibition and would like to coordinate with others from the group.
