Join the Del Ray community for First Thursday: Surf's Up!, featuring live music by The Surf Junkies at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, themed activities, giveaways, and more on Thursday, August 7 from 6pm to dusk along Mount Vernon Avenue.
Start at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square to drop your Cook for Vets donations and grab your Scavenger Hunt Entry Form and map of all the giveaway stops along the Avenue from Uhler to Bellefonte. Enjoy a beachy vibe from The Surf Junkies, stay cool under the American Water misting tent and get creative with sidewalk chalk and hula hoops. Then go up and down the Avenue to collect summery, beach-themed goodies while engaging with local businesses, make a craft with Mulberry Lane, grab a free hotdog and cold water from Stardust Vintage, cool down with popsicles courtesy of the Dairy Godmother while searching for those Scavenger hunt items. Turn in your completed forms at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square or Stardust Vintage during First Thursday for a chance to win a $50 gift card to your favorite Del Ray spot. Not able to make it to First Thursday? Grab an entry form at Stardust Vintage & Gifts and turn it in by COB on August 11 to enter. Winner will be drawn August 12.
Participants are encouraged to bring unopened, unexpired non-perishable food items for Cook for Vets to help fight veteran food scarcity. Needed items include rice, pasta, quinoa, pickles/relish, canned vegetables, canned tuna, vegetarian baked beans, single-serving oatmeal packets, large containers of oatmeal, single-serving cereal boxes, fruit cups, applesauce cups, granola bars, breakfast bars, graham crackers, animal crackers, individually- wrapped mini muffins, crackers, boxes of chicken or beef broth (no cans), crackers, small boxes of raisins, apple or grape juice (no glass bottles) and water bottles.
