5th Wednesday Reading Series for July 2025 (Highland Park Library)

We will hold our next 5th Wednesday Reading Series on July 30th at Highland Park Library. Our host and featured reader, Frank Gioia, put together a wonderful night of featured readers, including Jessi Marie, George Colburn, and Timothy Young. An open mic will follow, so bring a poem or a short prose piece to read. Please join us!

“I am pleased to invite you to Cracked Walnut's 5th Wednesday reading of ‘Thank You for Your Service.’ This reading of poetry and the spoken word will feature George Colburn, Timothy Young, Jessi Marie and myself, Frank Gioia, at 5:30pm on Wednesday, July 30th at the Highland Park Library, 1974 Ford Parkway, St Paul.

We will explore the readers' experiences of US military involvement in Vietnam and Iraq, their time in the service and the pain endured by family and friends at home by the loss of loved ones. Please join us for a Q and A after the reading. There will also be an Open Mic as time allows and books available for sale.

This promises to be a thought-provoking evening.”
