"Insights into Hillsborough County Mosquito Management"
Eric Long, Operations Superintendent, Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Program
Speaker Description of The Discussion:
Eric Long is the current Operations Superintendent of Hillsborough County’s Mosquito Management Services unit. He is native to Tampa graduating from Lennard High School located in Ruskin. He began his journey with Hillsborough County in 2019 as a part time employee, after 9 months he was given the opportunity to become a full-time employee. His tenure as a full-time mosquito control inspector included inspecting larval production sites around the county as well as helping many citizens with mosquito complaints. In late 2020 he was given another opportunity to be in an even bigger role amongst the program by becoming a field operations supervisor, while in this role he started improving the notoriety of the unit by participating in multiple television interviews in which he demonstrated how many sorts of containers found in and around your yard could be a prime source of breeding problems. In October of 2023 Mr. Long made yet another leap, this time into upper management, now as Operations Superintendent he is responsible for creating new and innovative ways to help control and manage the mosquito population in Hillsborough County via ground and aerial application.
