Banjo Jen + Joe Bayliss

For our last club night of the season, we bring two exciting new acts to the club this evening: Sheffield-based artist Banjo Jen is difficult to categorise but easy to fall for. Her unique brand of folky Americana, with insightful observations and an eclectic original repertoire, has seen her gain a growing reputation as one to watch on the UK singer-songwriter scene. With razor-sharp songwriting, percussive Appalachian step-dancing and engaging between-song banter, her refreshingly original live act is one we’re looking forward to seeing.
Joe Bayliss is influenced by John Martyn, Damien Rice and Nick Drake and is really at home interacting with his audience. Describing himself as “the oldest – ‘new kid on the block’ in the folk world in the last 12 years”, Joe brings a life’s experience to his songs – portrayed in a contemporary way – and weaves humorous back-stories with sensitive, thought-provoking lyrics, soothing melodies and imaginative metaphors. He can have you laughing at the start of a song and crying three minutes later!
