ASA 102: Boat Handeling & Sail Trim

ASA 102 offers in-depth training on boat handling, trim concepts, upwind sail trim, reaching, and running sail trim. It’s the perfect course for those looking to build their skills before moving on to Basic Coastal Cruising ASA 103, for existing sailors who know the ropes but have taken some time away from sailing and want a refresher, or for sailors who are interested in advancing their sailing skills in sailboat racing on Merit 25s.
ASA 102 graduates will be smarter, safer, faster, and more confident sailors to skipper and crew aboard a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 30 feet in length by day in winds up to 20 knots.
This four day course is taken over two consecutive week modules spanning on Sat/ Sun. The classroom portion will be held over ZOOM from 9:00-11:00 followed by your “on the water” portion at the marina from 12:30-4:30 with up to three students per boat.
Prerequisite: ASA 101 Basic Keelboat
