Using historic maps, archival photos, and an interactive digital StoryMap, explore how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping helps reveal the lasting contributions and deep community connections of our local namesakes.

Marcus Curtis is a GIS Specialist for Tallahassee-Leon County Geographic Information Systems (GIS). His work has supported the John G. Riley Center and Museum, the Florida Historic Capitol Museum, and the First Florida Capitol Building through award-winning StoryMaps. In 2024, he contributed research and mapping expertise to the Tallahassee-Leon County Bicentennial History Task Force and received multiple awards for excellence in preservation and education.
