The People's Bookshop is delighted to welcome Narbi Price and Mark Hudson talking about their new exhibition, Going Back Brockens: Monuments and Rhetoric After the Miners' Strike.
Going Back Brockens is a major new exhibition exploring the 1984 miners strike and its legacy in County Durham 40 years on. It consists of 40 paintings made by Narbi Price of locations across the county linked to the mining industry as they are now, and a soundscape constructed by Mark Hudson from his interviews with residents of Horden, once Europe’s most productive pit, now a ‘left behind’ community, made in 1991-1992 when memories of the strike were still raw in the village.
Tickets are £5 and include drinks & nibbles.
