In this workshop, Nicole will guide you through the basics of lino cutting, exploring line and use of space. You’ll be working with black and white inks on black and white paper, and creating your own unique designs - Nicole will support you through the exploration process so don’t worry if you don’t know what you want to create! The workshop fee includes all materials and refreshments during the short mid-afternoon break- tea, coffee and shortbread biscuits freshly made in the kitchens of the Great Hall.
At the end of the work shop you will have two lino prints that we will post to you as soon as they are dry.
The workshop is scheduled to end by 4.30 p.m.
Nicole Clayton graduated from AUB’s Textile design course and has been a practising multi-media artist with a particular interest in responding to the local Dorset coastline. In a recent exhibition, her work explored the history and present of the river underneath the footbridge over the Stour close to the Canford School Boathouse, looking into hidden memories. Nicole has previously sold work at local craft markets, as well as Camp Bestival. She has also hosted various workshops in the area. Academically she works closely in support of artists in residence, tutors and pupils at Canford’s Art Department.
