10-Year Remembrance Ceremony Honoring GySgt. Thomas J. Sullivan
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the City of Springfield and the Sullivan family will host a public remembrance ceremony to honor the life and legacy of Gunnery Sergeant Thomas J. Sullivan, a decorated United States Marine and Springfield native, on the 10-year anniversary of his heroic sacrifice during the Chattanooga terrorist attack.
This 10-year remembrance will include remarks and participation from Congressman Richard Neal, Mayor Domenic Sarno, Commissioner Tom Ashe, Marines from Westover Air Reserve Base, local and state officials, veteran organizations, and members of our community.
We invite all residents, veterans, service members, and local organizations to join us in honoring a true hometown hero, followed by a luncheon at the Thomas J. Sullivan Banquet Hall at Nathan Bill’s Bar & Restaurant, 110 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA.
This event is free and open to the public.
