[Desert Rock]
The nomadic Tuareg band Tamikrest returns to Control for a night where Saharan winds meet electric riffs. A soundscape shaped by longing, resistance, and connection.
“Desert-blues for fans of Can and Pink Floyd to sink their teeth into.” - MOJO
Their name means junction in Tamasheq - a language spoken by few, yet carrying the spirit of many. Fitting, as the five members come from different corners of the world, united in honoring and reimagining Tuareg identity.
Their music, rooted in Ishumar rock and Tuareg blues, stretches far beyond tradition, weaving in modern rock textures and global influences. Each track echoes a poetic yearning for freedom - sometimes elusive, always resonant.
With the political situation so volatile and desperate in the ancestral lands where Tamikrest come from, “Tamotaït”, their latest studio release, is more than an album. It is resistance. And also the most expansive and adventurous album that Tamikrest have made, exploring every corner of their sound. There’s even music they made far from the Sahara – in Japan.
Through lyrics both mysterious and deeply felt, Tamikrest builds bridges between the desert and the world, inviting listeners to hear and feel the pulse of a culture often unheard.
A moment of transcendence. A release from survival. A powerful celebration of voice and heritage.

“A desert hosts us, a language unites us, a culture binds us.”
" ...Tamikrest is a cutting-edge 21st-century rock group that just happens to live in the middle of one of the world’s most remote deserts..."
“The heaviest desert rock-out yet … Tamikrest’s music blazes with a righteous intensity that is almost scary.”
