‘The Life & Work of Stanley Jeeves’ will be presented by his daughter Susan Jeeves, a very special presentation in the very room that bears his name at Samlesbury Hall.
Stanley Jeeves, conservationist, photographer, and philosopher was a talented and unique man. In 1954 he was a stills photographer on a Daily Mail Expedition to Nepal – the search for The Abominable Snowman!
He spent five years as Warden at Brantwood, Coniston. There he developed a unique method of giving talks with dissolving images and music.
Sue will show excerpts from some Stanley’s audio-visual programmes including “Where the Highest Mountains Touch the Sky”. That was his final programme from the Everest region of Nepal. A sequence from Britain Beautiful shows the River Roddlesworth, Delius’ “La Kalinda” is the musical accompaniment finishing with a fine waterfall sequence from the Dales and Scotland. In addition, we travel with him to South America, the Middle East, and the landscapes he loved in Lancashire, Cumbria and Scotland.
Presented in 2 segments of 45 minutes each, a supper of soup and bread roll will be served at the halfway point.
