Simms Summer Concerts - Fiddelium on July 6

Fiddelium, an award-winning youth fiddle group from Vancouver Island, will be performing on Sunday, July 6, at 7 p.m. as part of the free Simms Summer Concerts at Simms Millennium Park.

Fiddelium (pronounced “fi-DELL-ee-um”) is known for their high-energy, polished performances that blend traditional and contemporary folk music from around the world — including tunes from Scotland, Quebec, Sweden, Ireland, Spain, Texas and British Columbia. The ensemble of 17 young musicians was awarded the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Award for their outstanding performance skills and is often compared to groups like Barrage or Bowfire (minus the pyrotechnics).

The concert will run until approximately 8:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music in the riverside setting of Simms Millennium Park, located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park.

The free Simms Summer Concerts continue most Sundays at 7 p.m. through July and August. Upcoming performances include Spanish Boots on July 13, Blues Jam (various artists) on July 20, Time Well Wasted on July 27, Stealing Dan on August 10 and Shotgun Kelly on August 17. The final concert is the Doobie Brothers Experience on August 24, which will also feature a food bank drive.
