Elian Mikkola : Kino-Camp

Casual bi-weekly film workshop series at la lumière collective over the summer of 2025, where knowledge is shared and new skills learned in a cozy, easy-access manner. Led by filmmaker and expanded media artist Elian Mikkola, these 4-hour sessions cover both analogue and digital filmmaking skills in a rotating manner each month.

You are welcome to join all or just one session. Registration is necessary prior to each session, and capacity is based on a sign-up order of up to 15 folks. The sliding scale is $45-65 per session on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee covers shared materials. The space has all the needed equipment, including a small darkroom.

The schedule might be altered based on attendance and/or unexpected circumstances. Participants will receive a confirmation via email after registration.

Sessions will be conducted in English.

Organizer’s notes
Inspired by Barbara Hammer’s approach to out-of-academia knowledge sharing, I invite those who want to gather in a low-stakes way to learn more technical filmmaking skills to support their artistry. No limit when it comes to age or experience level – the only rule is respect for all identities, no supremacy or hegemony of any sort. As a part of the six sessions, I will encourage you to try new moving image methods and techniques and share what I know, while I will probably learn a lot from everyone else who attends.
