Indigenous Beading Workshop with Nina Grant

In honour of National Indigenous History Month, the Old Hastings Mill Store Museum (1575 Alma St, Vancouver) is pleased to have Nina Grant of Lilβwat First Nation join us for a beading workshop. Nina was first introduced to beading by her great-grandmother. "We didn't have a television until I was nine years old, so as a youngster I learned all the traditional native crafts from sewing and weaving to hunting and tanning. Beading was always a favourite! I find working with beads very meditative and healing. Workshop participants will set an intention for their own healing. Wearing a bracelet you have made by hand, with your own intention, is something like using prayer beads."
Free entry includes primarily glass beads which have been blessed in accordance to Indigenous spirituality, beading instruction, homemade bannock and tea.
Ten spaces are available, we regret that this event is being held upstairs and may not be accessible to those with physical challenges.
