This summer's course dates are as follows:
July 12-13
July 19-20 (3 spots left)
August 2-3
August 16-17
8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Ghost Lake Provincial Park Recreation area 10 minutes West of Cochrane, AB
Level 1 course covers the skills necessary to safely plan and execute a day trip with friends in *Class 1 Waters (see below).
Topics: equipment, navigation, decision making, weather, strokes, bracing, capsizing & re-entry techniques, and more.
Certification granted upon satisfactory completion.
Participants must bring their own immersion wear (wet suit or dry suit) for the capsize and recovery portion of both days of the course.
Minors younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult. (Minimum age: 12.) Signed liability waivers are required for all participants and minors also require Parental Consent Waivers

Level 1: Non-challenging waters with mild wind effect (0-20 km/h or 0–11 knots), little or no current (0-1 km/h or 0–0.5 knots), uninterrupted easy landing options, and ready access to land-based assistance. Sea state is calm to light chop.
