Ribbon Cutting: Doodles Kids Art Lab

Niantic Main Street, downtown Niantic’s revitalization organization, invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Doodles Kids Art Lab on Friday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. The children’s art studio is located 55 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic. The ribbon-cutting is free, open to the public.

Doodles is a space for kids to explore and create art freely and authentically while focusing on the process and less on the outcome. It is also a place to get messy and parents do not have to worry about the clean up.

“Ever since first visiting Niantic 15+ years ago, I always knew I wanted to be a part of the unique shoreline town,” said owner Jennifer Satinsky. “And when the idea of this new venture popped up, it was a non-negotiable for me.”

Prior to opening Doodles, Satinsky was a family photographer for 15 years. Studying the idea of Process Art and the Reggio Emilia philosophies in kids education, it immediately became a goal of Satinsky’s to share her studies with families in the community.

“Now more than ever I personally feel fostering creativity is so important for kids. But, we as parents, can only do so much at home,” she said. “Doodles serves not only as a studio for kids but also helps balance the needs of parents.”

During the ceremony, tours of the studio will be open to families. And in addition to light refreshments, there will be a large portion of the space covered in white paper to doodle on in order to give families a classic Doodles experience.
