Pollinator Bioblitz at Prairie Island Park

A Bioblitz is a community science monitoring project that invites folks to upload images and identifications of many plant and pollinator species, in a specific area over a designated period of time, to the iNaturalist app . This DATA then becomes publicly available in order to support scientists’ understanding of the ecology of our area in the process of managing critical pollinator habitat locally and nationally.

In order to get started, we’ll meet on the Swamp Oak Wanderer classroom by the river, and share how to upload the iNaturalist app. Then, you will join the “JUNE 2025 Pollinator Bioblitz: City of Winona Prairie Island Park”.

Once you're in the project, check out the observations made so far and add a few of your own! We invite you to join us in a hike in Prairie Island Park as we capture as many quality images of plants and pollinators as we can. Don’t worry about identifying species precisely as iNaturalist crowd sources identifications and as well as some “experts” will be available to help!
