Live at Juilliard - Onye & The Messengers - Afrobeat & Global Grooves

The 30th annual Live at Juilliard concert series offers free, family-friendly concerts each Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m., July 27 to August 31, 2025, in historic Juilliard Park. In addition to enjoying outstanding free music, families can picnic on the grass and purchase food and beverages.

Led by renowned Nigerian percussionist and songwriter, Onye Onyemaechi, these diverse and professional musicians play music that is a celebration of body and soul. With a captivating blend of influences ranging from Afrobeat, Funk, Jazz, and other global grooves, The Messengers perform nationally and internationally for a wide range of audiences and events.
A virtuoso of African rhythm music, Onye Onyemaechi brings a powerful experience to audiences across the U.S. and Europe. A native of Nigeria, Onye creates original compositions that blend tribal rhythms with contemporary music influences. His multicultural blend of hypnotic trance-dance music inspires and uplifts others to celebrate diversity and awaken the native joy of the soul.
