Location: Oreti Totara Dune Forest, 344 Oreti Road, Otatara
Registration: On the day, at the event (cash only)
Start: Anytime between 11.30am – 1.00pm (course closes at 2.00pm)
Course type: Score event – 60 minutes
In this score orienteering event, you’ll choose your own route, visiting as many controls as you can within 60 minutes (like a mini rogaine!). Controls can be visited in any order – just don’t be late back! You’ll lose points for every minute you’re overdue.
The Otatara Dunes map features a mix of tōtara forest, grassy paths, lupin-covered dunes, rough open land, marshes, and streams. Keep an eye (and ear) out for local birdlife – you might spot paradise ducks, herons, fantails, and tūī along the way.
This event is suitable for all ages and abilities – beginners are always welcome.
Please note:
– No dogs allowed
– Do not touch any pest traps you may encounter
