Deep Sea Conservation of Nautiluses

Did you know nautiluses have been in our oceans for over 500 million years, but a mere 50 years of unregulated fisheries has led to depleted populations and local extinction? Please join us for a fascinating presentation on the deep-sea projects in the Pacific Ocean from the Save the Nautilus Organization. You’ll learn about the deep-sea habitats of nautiluses, other amazing sea creatures, and efforts being made to protect them in the wild and right here in Iowa.

This program is presented by Dr. Gregory J. Barord, head of the Marine Biology Program at Central Campus, Des Moines, and one of the leaders of the Save the Nautilus Organization.
