Take a guided tour of the exhibition with commentary from Christelle Havranek, Chief Curator of Kunsthalle Praha.

The intertwined lives of Anna-Eva Bergman (1909–1987) and Hans Hartung (1904–1989) are unique among the great artistic couples of the twentieth century. Their shared journey spanned a first encounter in 1920s Paris, a separation in 1937, the upheaval of the Second World War, and a final reunion in 1952. Despite their closeness, each remained stylistically distinct, continuously refining their individual artistic approaches in dialogue with one another.

This exhibition explores precisely that interplay of difference and similarity. Bergman and Hartung drew from common sources of inspiration – the forces of nature, the vastness of the cosmos, and the language of music – but each expressed them in a wholly unique way. Though their works are fundamentally different, their paths often intersect, creating a shared space – a place where they coexist through painting.

This guided tour will be held in English.
