The Cathedral Series: The New Eden Consort

We’re thrilled to welcome The New Eden Consort to St Mary’s as part of our Cathedral Series. This accomplished vocal quartet is based in Greenwich, London – but there’s a special local connection for us: soprano Grace Oliver was a much-loved Choral Scholar here at the Cathedral before going on to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. It’s a real joy to welcome her back, this time with her ensemble.

The New Eden Consort features Grace, Niamh, Charlie and Dom – all either current vocal studies students or alumni of Trinity Laban. The group originated in the chapel choir at the Old Royal Naval College, and their collective experience in choral singing enables them to perform with balance, nuance, and a close-knit ensemble sound.

Their repertoire spans sacred and secular music from the Renaissance to works by living composers – and everything in between. A recent highlight for the group was reaching the final of the Carne Trust Chamber Music Competition at Trinity Laban.

Alongside their live performances, the group also aims to make classical music more accessible through their growing social media presence.
