The much acclaimed The Gents of St John’s, who hail from Cambridge University, are bringing their magnificent a cappella sounds to St John’s Church, thanks to the efforts of their musical director Matthew Monaghan.
As a youth, Matthew lived in Shelfield but rehearsed at St John’s Church, Walsall Wood. He approached Rev Lisa and asked for permission to return and perform. Lisa was only too glad to oblige.
The Gents of St John’s Out Of The Deep concert tour features two distinctive styles comprising a first half of choral masterpieces, including examples of the works of Tallis, Byrd and Stainer, with a second half of classic popular songs from the likes of The Beach Boys and The Beatles, amongst others.
Show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £12 and available directly from The Gents of St John’s website on gentlemenofstjohns.co.uk/concerts or via Richard in Walsall Wood on cndybHV0b24xIHwgb3V0bG9vayAhIGNvbQ==
