Summer Workshop No 3: Melaya

My summer workshops have been designed to act as an introduction to Egyptian style belly dance to anyone who wants to have a go. They do not focus on technique, but on fun, giving students the opportunity to try something new, have fun, have some "me" time, and perhaps give them a break from the kids?

No experience is necessary as workshops will cater for all

The Melaya dance is believed to have influences from Alexandria and has delevoped into a recognised character dance in its own right. Known to be sassy, fun and flirtatious, this will appeal to anyone with a sense of fun.

Learn where this dance originates, what is the Melaya, and how do we use it?

A fun, sassy, "show and reveal" dance.

If possible (but not essential) please bring a pair of low heeled, decorated mules (see picture)
