Descent: Shadows in Summer

The sun might be shining outside, but at Descent, we trade rays for ravens and sunbeams for strobes. Join us Sunday, June 22, 2025, at The Red Room for an electrifying midsummer descent into the depths of darkwave, industrial, and gothic bliss.

Since 2007, Descent has been the heartbeat of Vancouver’s goth scene—a long-standing tradition where corsets meet combat boots, eyeliner flows freely, and the music hits deep and hard. This isn’t just another night out; it’s a gathering of creatures of the night, misfits, romantics, and rhythm-addicted souls who know that the best therapy is found under a pounding bassline and a canopy of lasers.

Your guides through the darkness? Resident DJs DJ Surreal, DJ Joshy Neurotic, and DJ MissBDeath—experts in weaving a sonic spell from industrial crunch to ethereal synth. They’re not here to play nice; they’re here to summon the night and keep you moving until your platform boots beg for mercy.

The Red Room will once again serve as our lair, with its massive sound system, signature light shows, and just the right amount of shadowy corners for dramatic posing or mysterious disappearing acts. Whether you’re a long-time Descenter or making your first brave foray into the night, you’ll find a warm (but very black) welcome. No judgement—only vibes.

Costumes, creativity, and full goth glory are always encouraged but never required. Come as you are—or as you wish you were under moonlight. Just come ready to dance, connect, and celebrate the beautiful, strange, and sublime.
