In this fun two-hour drop in session you are invited to bring two pieces of clothing to dip in our indigo pot. We will discuss the history of indigo and some vat preparation information. There will be several samples on hand so that you can gauge how many dips you will need in order to achieve your desired shade of indigo! We will send you home with written instructions for post-dip care.
You are welcome to bring t-shirts, button down shirts, shawls/scarves, or light summer dresses. our pots cannot accommodate heavy clothing like hoodies or jeans. Please bring silk or any cellulose fibres: cotton, linen, ramie or hemp. Synthetic fibres will not take indigo. To obtain good results, your pieces must have been washed in hot water and dried without any use of fabric softener. Fabric takes dye best when it is wet. If possible, soak your pieces for at least 15 minutes prior to the workshop and bring them wet.
The cost for this workshop is $40. Space is limited, and registration is required to secure your spot. Please visit the link to sign up: https://asil.ca/shop/indigo-vat-dip-session
We will have bandanas on hand for purchase at $5.00 per bandana for extra dye options.
