Intro Leatherworking: Make a Cardholder with Landmark Leather

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the basics of leatherworking! Local artisan Tyson from Landmark Leather Co. will walk you through cutting, gluing, and saddle stitching a beautiful, minimalist leather cardholder.
You'll use Full Grain, fine Italian leather from Badalassi Carlo Tannery in Italy to craft a one or two color cardholder. You'll also learn about the basics of leather work, including design, selecting leather hides and thicknesses, and more!
You'll practice the following techniques as you create your cardholder:
- Cutting leather panels after tracing a template with an awl
- Burnishing edges
- Glueing panels together
- Trimming and sanding
- Punching stitching holes
- The saddle stitch
- Finishing
All the necessary tools and materials will be provided, so just come with your creativity, and get ready to learn a new skill! You'll leave class with a better understanding of the leatherworking process, and a new cardholder you've crafted yourself.
