To mark 30 years since the notorious Battle of Britpop, in which Oasis’ ‘Roll With It’ competed with Blur’s ‘Country House’ for chart supremacy, we bring you something of a first – a Vinyl Sessions double-header.
This session will see us play Parklife and Definitely Maybe (i.e. the most iconic albums by both acts that people actually like) in their entirety, back to back.
Yes, we know – the whole thing was an avarice-fuelled media confection, and all a bit silly in hindsight. But the vibrant mid-90s youth culture, and the swaggeringly confident, era-defining music that underpinned it all? Those were real – so dust off your favourite Fred Perry shirt or Stone Island parka (delete as appropriate), come on down and bring your memories of a seminal moment in UK pop music history, the likes of which we probably won’t see again in our lifetimes...
