The Bossa Definitiva Trio – A tribute to Getz/Gilberto

As part of the Swanage Jazz Fringe Festival, vocalist Véronique Joly and saxophonist Terry Quinney present a trio, featuring guitarist Rob Palmer, that plays the cool Bossa Nova sounds of Stan Getz and Astrud and João Gilberto. The trio will perform material from the iconic Getz/Gilberto album (which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024), as well as some more contemporary songs from the genre.
Regulars at Swanage Jazz Festival, the trio is fronted by Paris born singer Véronique Joly, who was the featured vocalist on the BBC series ‘Rick Stein: French Odyssey’ and sings in English, French and Portuguese. Canadian saxophonist Terry Quinney is co-leader of the ‘The Sound Of Blue Note’ band and he has performed with UK jazz icons such as Nigel Price, Ian Shaw, Alan Barnes and Jim Mullen. Guitarist Rob Palmer is a member of the Afrobeat band Thokozile and has also worked with acclaimed vibes player Roger Beaujolais and Soft Machine saxophonist Theo Travis.
