Low Tide Beach Hike at Point Defiance with Queer Mountaineers

Join the Queer Mountaineers for beach hiking and exploration during a low tide.

About this Event

Have you ever walked the beach at low tide looked down at something and thought “what the heck is that?” Come join the Queer Mountaineers as we walk the beach at Point Defiance and do exactly that.

With us will be a beach naturalist to help name all those low tide critters you may have seen but cannot name and the ones you didn’t notice. Other beach highlights on this hike include the resident harbor seal colony of Point Defiance (very cute) and the pocket sand beach at the true point of Point Defiance Park.

For those interested low tide on August 10th will be at 12:30 pm and -1.7 ft. (pretty low). Please bring shoes good for walking in that can potentially get wet/muddy, for best access to the parts of beach exposed at low tide. Our beach hike will begin at Owens Beach and head along the beach to the North East towards the point, then at the point turning around and heading back the same way we came out.
