This post- Labor Day Weekend, in the heart of Brooklyn’s Caribbean community, we celebrate the electrifying legacy of calypso and soca with One Hand Don’t Clap—a joyous and essential music documentary that charts the rhythms and rebellion behind a movement.
Featuring icons Grandmaster Lord Kitchener, Calypso Rose (the first woman to break through in a male-dominated arena), and the rise of David Rudder, this film takes us from NYC studios to the unforgettable streets of Trinidad & Tobago’s Carnival.
More than a concert doc, One Hand Don’t Clap is a love letter to Caribbean cultural power—its sound, its struggle, and its spirit. Screening in the Flatbush neighborhood—home to one of the largest West Indian communities in the world—this is a gathering of joy, memory, and belonging.
Come celebrate the season, the sound, and the soul of the diaspora—under the stars and in community.
