Workshop Description: The host is crucial to a show’s success, but hosting is a neglected skill. Practice using your improv muscles — and develop some new ones — to connect with an audience and set up teams for success.

After completing this workshop, attendees will be able to set shows up for success by:

-- Preparing effectively for hosting a show;

-- Connecting with an audience through hosting;

-- And reducing any hosting anxiety and avoiding common mistakes.

Target Audience: Anyone with an interest in hosting shows or an interest in doing a better job hosting shows. From beginner to advanced, anyone can benefit.

Workshop Length: 2 hours

What Should I Bring? Comfy clothes for movement and a notebook to take notes. The instructor will provide participants with an emailed summary after the workshop.

Instructor: Greg Phillips (he/him) has been improvising on stage since 2012 and has been hosting shows for more than a decade, including WIT: An Improvised Comedy Game Show at Mettlesome. He is also an award-winning writer, editor and on-stage storyteller, has been a professional communicator for more than 20 years, and teaches public speaking for professionals.
