10x10 Salon: The Photobook and Resistance with Mariette Pathy Allen, Keavy Handley-Byrne, D'Angelo Lovell Williams, & Ashima Yadava.
Sunday, August 10
11am – 12:30pm

Featuring contributors to CPW’s Flashpoint! Protest Photography in Print Reading Room at CPW and its associated publication (10x10 Photobooks, 2024), the speakers will explore the recent history of protest photography in print worldwide and how the intersection of photography, documentarian and artist voices shape both the making and reception of photographic resistance books and zines. Since its inception, photography has captured defining historical moments, serving as either a tool or a document of protest—or both. The panel will discuss how photography tells stories and makes arguments to reflect and challenge extreme social, political and cultural transformations.
