Fall Vegetable Seed Starting Workshop in Charlottesville
About this Event
Fall is often referred to as the "second spring" within gardening circles in our region. With cooler temperatures, less watering, fewer pests, and an array of tasty crops to choose from, fall gardening is among our favorite seasons for planting. One consideration when starting a fall garden is whether to start your own seeds or buy transplants. Starting your garden from seed is rewarding, cost-saving, and opens up your options to thousands of exciting varieties. However, some folks experience uncertainty knowing exactly what to do to ensure success.
In this information-packed workshop you'll learn best practices for successful germination, timing, how to choose the right equipment for your space, trouble-shooting problems, and the proper way to care for your seedlings until they're planted in the garden. There will be a discussion about bulbs, wildflowers, and vernalization, followed by you getting your hands in the soil!
