Join us for a serene sunset meditation led by 17th-generation Chief Monk Syuken Yokoyama, followed by a refined organic tea service conducted by 4th-generation tea master, Naomi Shirao. Both esteemed guests are traveling from Japan to share this rare and intimate cultural experience. Come and immerse yourself in an unforgettable evening of tranquility, tradition and taste. You are welcome to bring your own yoga mats and blankets for the meditation portion of the event.
About Chief Monk Syunken Yokoyama
A 17th-generation monk, Chief Monk Syunken Yokoyama comes from Sotosyu, Antouin temple in Fukushima city, Japan. He is constantly evolving the role of temples in modern society and providing his temple for yoga / meditation practice monthly to the community. On the Antoin Temple premises, there’s a designated cultural property, Taho tower, which is the oldest shrine dedicated to Buddhism preserved as its original form in Tohoku Region.
About Tea Master Naomi Shirao
Naomi Shirao, tea master and representative of four generations of a non-pesticide organic farm in Miyazaky, Kyushu, Japan. Their cultivation philosophy begins with the roots–the soil. They proudly claim the soil in their field is so pure, it's edible. Their precious tea was even served to the heads of the G7 Hiroshima summit in 2023. Their tea is currently available for purchase at HACO in Williamsburg.
