After a 4-year hiatus, Words, Wine & Wings is back and better than ever! Join us for our 11th edition hosted by Baltimore award-winning poet Cherrie Amour! The night will feature powerful poetry, an open mic, and five standout poets from the DMV—all centered around the theme: Truth Be Told.

Buddah Desmond – Washington, DC
Buddah Desmond (aka BDez) is a poet, writer, and creative based in the DMV. Their work uplifts themes of healing, love, and resilience. Author of six poetry collections, including Coming Up From the Downside (2024), Buddah is also a UX professional and member of the arts fraternity Gamma Xi Phi.
Mia Miata – Baltimore, MD
Mia Miata is a poet, vocalist, educator, and talk show host. She’s the author of The Goddess Code and The Adventures of Niema the Oracle, and the creator of the spoken word CD Me and Me. Mia teaches at Baltimore City Community College and is pursuing a doctorate in Community College Leadership at Morgan State University.
Reinfred Dziedzorm Addo – Baltimore, MD
Reinfred Dziedzorm Addo is a Ghanaian-American poet and author of Washed Over and The Dedicadas, award-winning collections recognized by the Royal Palm and GAW Literary Awards. His work appears in Tampered Press, Susurrus, and more. He lives and writes in Baltimore.
Ashley Elizabeth – Baltimore, MD
Ashley Elizabeth (she/her) is a Pushcart-nominated writer and winner of the 2024 Garden Party Collective Chapbook Contest. She is the author of A Family Thing and several chapbooks, and her work appears in SWWIM, The Hellebore, and more. Based in Baltimore, Ashley serves as Chapbook Editor at Sundress Publications and Workshop Coordinator for fifth wheel press.
Kyoko Heshiimu - Staten Island, NY
Kyoko Heshiimu is a poet and visual artist whose work centers on social justice and introspection. She has published five poetry collections, four children’s books, and released the spoken word single Speakers with Roughhouse Noise. Her poem The Color of Suspicion was featured on WBAI 95.5’s Midnight Ravers in 2012, 2021, and 2022. She is a multi-year recipient of the SIArts DCA Art Grant.
